Allamah Muhammad ibn Abdur Rahman Sakhaawi said in
“القول البديع في الصلاة على الحبيب الشفيع صلى الله عليه وسلم”:
[H] It is narrated from Sahl ibn Abdullah that he said, “He who says eighty (80) times on the day of Jumuah after Asr, [اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدِنِ النَّبِيِّ الْأُمِّيِّ وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَسَلِّمْ], eighty (80) years of his sins will be forgiven.”
Collected by Ibn Bashkuwaal. Its meaning was recently mentioned in the hadith of Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه.
This is where Sakhawi mentions the statement of Sahl ibn Abdullah. After it, he reminds us that a narration of Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه [Hadith B] with a similar meaning was mentioned above. This is the famous narration of Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه which is under discussion.
